Crossroads Spark Early Offense in Victory over Campbell Hall, Vernon Records Double-Double

Subsequently following the girls’ matchup, the Crossroads Roadrunners and the Campbell Hall Vikings met for a Wednesday night matchup, where the Roadrunners grabbed an early lead en route to a 69-56 victory. Crossroads was entering this matchup having enjoyed a nice two game winning streak and had their sights set on extending that streak. Once the Roadrunners broke the ice to begin the scoring, it proved to be a tough task for the Vikings to reciprocate their output.

The first two quarters were highlighted by Roadrunners sophomore 6-6’ center Edward Vernon, who combined for 20 points in the first half alone. Vernon continued to dominate offensively, as his efforts netted him a final stat line of 29/12/1 while shooting a remarkable 75% from the field. Crossroads was also helped early on by PF Aidan Croshere, who had a perfect shooting performance while registering 12 points and 5 rebounds coming off the bench.

After a rally in the third quarter by Campbell Hall brought the score to just a two-point Crossroads lead, the Roadrunners were able to regain the momentum and pull away with a 10-2 scoring drive to bring the score back to a double digit lead. Crossroads would not relinquish their grasp on the game, and were able to limit any potential threat that Campbell Hall attempted. The Vikings will be home vs. Brentwood tonight at 7:00pm for another Gold Coast League game.
