Burbank falls to 0-9 to kick off Pacific League play to Pasadena

Fresh off of the Burbank Varsity Tournament over the weekend, the Burbank Bulldogs were still looking to get into the win column for the first time this season. Heading into league play, the Bulldogs have started the season 0-8 as they were coming off losses to Westridge, Rio Mesa, Village Christian, and Brentwood. Their next matchup was against the Pasadena Bulldogs, who were coming off a sweeping loss to Bishop Amat(La Puente) over the weekend as well. This was the first Pacific League game for both teams and represented a chance to change the momentum of their respective seasons. Burbank came out on the losing end of the matchup as they fell to 0-9 overall and 0-1 in Pacific League Play to the Pasadena Bulldogs in 4 sets(13-25, 26-24, 13-25, 16-25). Pasadena improves to 7-4 overall, and 1-0 in Pacific League Play with the win over Burbank as they take round 1 in the battle of the Bulldogs.

After a rough first set, Burbank had an amazing 2nd set as they beat Pasadena 26-24. Raquel Fox and Astoria Torres played a vital role in the win for the Dogs as they both had kills in that set. Pasadena turned up the intensity in the third and fourth sets, and even though the Bulldogs fought hard, they could not overcome the play of Pasadena. “I think the girls are starting to realize that in order to win, they really have to work together. It’s a team sport and have to give it their 100% effort. She also added that in the 2nd set, the girls gave it their all but still learning how to carry the momentum into games,” said Burbank head coach Morgan Bolger on her team's performance in the loss“It’s a good way to start the season, especially starting league play with a win and i’m happy with it,” said Pasadena coach Armando Carlin after the team's victory to open league play. He also added that both Sinam Minasian and Payton Scott played great games as they showed a lot of hustle in the win over Burbank.

Burbank will take another shot at picking up their first win of the season when they take on the John Muir High School Mustangs of Pasadena on Thursday, August 30th at Muir, which will be a 3:45 PM start. The Pasadena Bulldogs will take on Monrovia High School on Wednesday, August 30th at Monrovia which will be a 5 PM start.
