Burbank Boys Soccer 2023-2024 season preview

The Burbank Bulldogs are looking to build off a 10-7-3 overall record and a 6-5-3 record in Pacific League play, as Johnny Rotunno begins his first season as the head coach of the Burbank Bulldogs boys soccer program. Rotunno is a business owner in the Burbank area and comes from a background that has prior playing/coaching experience at the semi-pro level. He currently has a son who currently plays on the program. The coaching staff under Rotunno will feature Sebastian Causarano, who will be in charge of the varsity squad along with Erik Gharibian who will be in charge of the JV squad, and Davit Stepanyan who will be in charge of the frosh squad.

The top returning players that will be tasked to get the Bulldogs over the hump are juniors, Hayk Tovmasyan (Goalkeeper), Rigoberto Garcia (central defensive midfielder), and senior George Atallah (central attacking midfielder). “We’re very lucky to have a strong leader in coach Johnny Rotunno.” said athletic director Allison McKain. She went on to say that the school is very excited about Rotunno’s soccer IQ and that they are appreciative of the boys for getting a strong leader in Rotunno.

“I’m very excited about the upcoming season, we have a lot of young talent that has a lot of potential to make it an exciting season,” said Rotunno. He also said that George Atallah is going to be one of the team’s playmakers on the varsity squad this season. Burbank will begin the 2023-2024 season with 2 road contests against Beverly Hills and Hart (Valencia) before their home opener against Shurr (Montebello). Other key dates on the calendar to keep an eye out on are when Burbank will take on Muir at John Muir High School on Tuesday, December 5th to begin Pacific League play, along with the 2 contests with Burroughs on Friday, January 12th (at JBHS), and again on Thursday, February 1st, (At BHS).
