Arcadia blanks Burbank 10-0 behind 2 goal performances by Skye Esocbedo and Zane Bannoura
The Arcadia Apaches came away with a 10-0 win over the Burbank Bulldogs, as Skye Esocbedo and Zane Bannoura each had a 2-goal performance. Esocebdo recorded goals in the 3rd minute in the first half and the 2nd minute in the second half, while Escobedo scored 2 goals in the 2nd half. Burbank was coming off a 3-0 win over Glendale, along with Arcadia beating Burroughs 3-1 on Friday afternoon.
The Apaches started the first half with a bang with 2 goals by Esocbedo and Alina Ong. Their goals came in the 3rd and 10th minute of play in the opening half. The Bulldogs had chances at the start but Jocelyn Morinaga’s attempt at goal went wide left of the net. In the 37th minute of play, Maya Myles recorded a huge goal to put the Apaches up 3-0 before the halftime break.
After the intermission, Arcadia picked up where they left off in the 1st half of play with another goal by Esocbedo in the 2nd minute of play. Other goals that were scored in the 2nd half for Arcadia were from Zane Bannoura, Rosey McCoy, Ima Kellerman, Brooks Monson, and Jill Harriman. Bannoura scored her 2nd goal of the match in the 19th minute of play. Sydney Evens Armendaris had a rough day in goal but managed to rack up 7 saves in the loss. On the other hand, Adrienne Lin had no saves and allowed no goals.
“We started slow which put us behind quickly. Arcadia is a number 1 team for a reason but we needed a quicker start which didn’t happen,” said Bulldogs head coach Dennis Leon. Leon praised Moriaga for her hustle when asked about her near goal.
Burbank drops to 3-1-1 overall, 2-1 in Pacific League play, while Arcadia improves to 4-1 overall, and 3-0 in Pacific League play. The next time both teams will hit the field, Burbank will play Pasadena on the road on Friday, December 15th at 3:45 PM and Arcadia will take on Glendale on the same day but at 3:30 PM.
