Burroughs falls to Pasadena 4-3

The Pasadena Bulldogs came out victorious on Friday afternoon with a 4-3 victory over the John Burroughs Bears behind a 2-goal performance by Jayden Lopez. This was the second victory in the season series for Pasadena, who defeated Burroughs 5-2 back on December 12th. The Bears entered the match coming off a 1-0 loss to Arcadia while Pasadena drew 1-1 to Hoover last Tuesday afternoon. Carlos Rosales recorded 6 saves in the win for Pasadena, while Christopher Reyes recorded 5 saves in the loss for Burroughs.

In the 1st half, Danny Pascual got the scoring going for Burroughs with the first of his two goals in the 21st minute of play. Three minutes later Jayden Lopez tied the score at 1 in the 24th minute of play. Both teams headed into the halftime break being tied at 1-1.

After intermission, Jayden Lopez scored his 2nd goal of the game in the 18th minute in the 2nd half. Dominic Quijada missed two opportunities at goal in the 2nd half in the 9th and 25th minutes of play. Pasadena got 2 more goals in the half from Lithium DeSilva and Tobias Gonzalez to help the Bulldogs lead 4-1. Burroughs attempted a late rally with goals by Pascual and Alex Lara to help the Bears get within 1 goal before regulation ended.

“At the start of the game, we came into it very confident, we stuck to the game plan and gave Pasadena a hard time,” said Bears assistant coach George Flores. Flores praised Danny Pascual for his 2-goal performance and called him one of their key plays as he always keeps them grounded in the midfield.

Burroughs drops their record to 5-7 overall and 4-6 in Pacific League play, while Pasadena improves to 11-2-2 overall and 8-0-2 in Pacific League play. Burroughs will take on Crescenta Valley on Tuesday, January 23rd at 3:45 p.m. while Pasadena will take on Burbank on the same day and time.
