Sophie Peek and Amanda French have committed to LaSalle University in Boston, Massachusetts, and Southern Virginia University in Buena Vista, Virginia to play soccer and participate on the dance teams at their respective schools. Peek is a 4-year varsity player and 2-year varsity captain on the varsity soccer team at Burbank High School and will be playing soccer at the collegiate level next winter, while French spent 2 years on the Burbank High School lower-level dance team and will continue her journey on the dance team in college in the fall.

“I’m excited about this opportunity. It sounds like a lot of fun. I’d never see myself on a college dance team competing at the next level,” said French. French admitted that she’s been dancing for 14 years since she was 4 years old and stated that her favorite memory on the dance team was when she performed the Nutcracker and Swan Lake during the dance shows.

In Peeks’s final year on the Burbank Bulldogs varsity soccer team, she ranked 3rd on the team with 5 goals, 2nd with 5 assists, 2nd with 10 points, and 2nd with 0.4 goals per match. Peek was named to the all-Pacific League’s 2nd team to cap off her amazing final year with the team. “I am super excited for Sophie it’s a significant achievement and a great opportunity for her,” said Head Bulldogs girls soccer coach Dennis Leon. Leon admitted that Peek is the heart and soul of the team and has been a big part in rebuilding the program. He also said that LaSalle is getting a hard-working and dedicated player in Peek.

Both Peek and French will end High School on Thursday, May 23rd, and will cross the stage at their graduation ceremony on Friday, May 24th.
