Expectations are expected to be tempered for the Bulldogs heading into the 2024-2025 season

Last season the Bulldogs finished with a .500 record overall at 7-7-2 and a game under .500 in the Pacific League with a 6-7-1 overall record. Year two with Dennis Leon at the helm should be a season where things improve for Burbank as they will look to go for it all. Burbank placed 5th in the league a season ago and will look to make noise this winter.

The coaching staff will be a two-person combination just like last season with Gustavo Carcamo serving as the program’s head junior varsity coach. “A new season is always fun, the outcome is unknown since there are things that you don’t expect and the girls have worked hard all offseason, and (we are) looking forward to seeing what they can do,” said Leon. He has seen a lot of improvement in the team and praises that they have lots of depth at the underclassman level and at the upperclassmen level.

Under Leon, the key players to watch this season will be seniors Nicole Shamiryan (mid-fielder and defender), Natalia Gonzalez (defender), juniors Emily Taghon (midfielder), Delilah Williams a transfer from Mount Carmel Academy in Louisiana, and sophomore Sofia Leon (daughter of Bulldogs Head Coach Dennis Leon). Both Taghon and Leon led the team in goals and assists respectively last season.

The Bulldogs will look to be not only one of the best offensive teams in the league this season but they are expected to make noise defensively. With the departure of goalkeeper Sydney Evan Amardaris due to her transferring to Burroughs, look for senior goalkeepers Natalia Cortez and Daniella Agopian to share time in the net with Cortez getting the majority of the starts.

The Bulldogs will begin the 2024-2025 season on Tuesday, November 19th against Alhambra with kickoff scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Other key dates on the calendar will be the opening of Pacific League play on Tuesday, January 7th when Burbank takes on Pasadena in the battle of the Bulldogs showdown, with game time scheduled for 3:45 p.m. Later in the season is the battle of Burbank against Burroughs on Wednesday, January 29th at Kemp Kallem Field with kickoff slated for 3:45 p.m. Stay tuned for coverage of the Burbank Bulldogs girl’s soccer season all season long.
