The four-year lineman on the Bears football team commits to the college of his choice 

Rizon Williamson has officially committed to the college of his choice, as he signed with the Hamline University football program in St. Paul Minnesota to further his academic and athletic career in a private signing day event with members of his family. Williamson played all four years with the Burroughs Bears football program and has earned a number of awards during his playing time with Burroughs. He will also be majoring in music production at Hamline University in addition to playing football at the school. 

Williamson is a two-time offensive lineman of the year winner voted by his teammates, along with earning second team Pacific League Honors in 2024, and most inspirational player in 2023. Williamson played three years on the varsity football team. This past season Williamson spent his senior year on the Bears as part of the team that is rebuilding, having won three games in the first year of the Jose Calzadilla Era. Williamson played for three different head coaches during his time with Burroughs Varsity Football which included Jesse Caven in 2023, LaRon Johnson in 2024 and spending his senior year with Calzadilla. 

“I’m super proud of Rizon and for his family to be instrumental in this process,” said Calzadilla. “They put in a lot of work to make this happen.” Calzadilla also added that Williamson will have a great future with Hamline University football. 

“I’m so excited to play football at the next level.” said Rizon Williamson. “Playing on the gridiron has been my favorite thing throughout my life.” Williamson also admitted that his teammates were very instrumental during his senior season on the Bears football program. 

Rizon Williamson will be crossing the stage at the John Burroughs High School graduation ceremony on Thursday, May 28 and will look to make his Hamline University debut on Saturday September 5 when the Pipers take on Crown University in St. Bonifacius, Minnesota at 1:00 p.m. Central Time.
