The football season is moving full speed ahead as both the Valley Mission and East Valley League schedules get underway this week. The unbeatens hold their spots at the top of the list, while the rest of the rankings saw significant movement after some interesting results from Week three. Here is the latest edition of the Valley Sports Telegrams’ SFV football power rankings this week:

1. Cleveland Cavaliers (4-0)
   Another week, another dominant display by the Cavaliers. This team’s play through the first four games feels like they could be a real threat to unseat Birmingham at the top of the West Valley this season. Moyo Odebunmi has emerged as not just one of the Valley’s most dangerous weapons, but maybe in the entire section. The Cavs get a well-earned week off before a tough road test at Crenshaw in Week Five.
2. Kennedy Cougars (4-0)
   It was a back-and-forth battle in Granada Hills last week, but the Cougars’ quality shone through as they retained possession of “Tina.” The first step in retaining their stranglehold on the Valley Mission came with a huge contest at Van Nuys this week.
3. Taft Toreadors (3-1)
   The Toreadors breezed to a 30-point win over Channel Islands last week to jump to fourth in the power rankings. The task gets tougher this week as Taft locks horns with La Salle at home before hitting their bye week.
4. Poly Parrots (2-1)
   After coming up short in Week Zero at Taft, the Parrots have looked like a team capable of winning the East Valley in the last couple of weeks. They will have the chance to make that statement loud and clear when they host Fulton on Friday night.
5. Chatsworth Chancellors (2-1)
   The Chancellors erased the bad taste of their first loss of the season by putting on a defensive clinic against Arleta last week. Head Coach Shawn Johnson believed his Chatsworth squad had learned from last year and was ready to win in 2026, and he was right. A victory at Sylmar would see the Chancellors already surpass their win total from last season before even hitting the midpoint of the campaign.
6. Van Nuys Wolves (2-1)
   Despite the early-season difficulties and injuries forcing Ken Osorio to rely on their young depth, the Wolves still sit above .500 and look like a team capable of playing with anybody in the city. Van Nuys has an opportunity to pull off a program-changing victory if they can upend Kennedy at home Friday night as Valley Mission play begins.
7. Verdugo Hills Dons (2-1)
   As good as Poly has looked in the early season to reinforce the idea that they could unseat North Hollywood as the East Valley top dog, the Dons have looked every bit the part of a league-champion contender through the first four weeks, too. Verdugo begins an important stretch of East Valley play, hosting a desperate Arroyo team searching for their first win before an important tilt in two weeks at the defending league champions North Hollywood.
8. Panorama Pythons (3-1)
   For the first time this season, the Pythons played the role of the nail rather than the hammer, as they did in the first three games. There is no shame in losing on the road at El Camino Real, especially when the Royals were bound to give their best effort and needed the win. Panorama will look to right the ship against Canoga Park this week.
9. Granada Hills Highlanders (2-2)
   The Highlanders put up one heck of a battle in the rivalry matchup against Kennedy last week. The Granada Hills team has had a roller-coaster season so far. A win versus Fairfax this week will put them right where they need to be heading into the West Valley gauntlet that begins in two weeks after their bye.
10. Arleta Mustangs (2-1)
    The Mustangs have a few questions to answer after getting shut down on the road at Chatsworth last week. The team is very young in some key areas, which led to inconsistent play and some big mistakes that cost them against the Chancellors. The good news: The Mustangs have winnable matchups over the next two weeks against Grant and Arroyo to put themselves in the mix to contend for the East Valley throne in what will surely be a wide-open race to finish first this season.
