Tomas Angel goes two for two and Ryland LeClair records a six-out save to help the Burbank Bulldogs get on the win column for the first time in 2025 

In round two of the Battle of the Bulldogs, the Burbank Bulldogs came away with their first victory of the season defeating the Pasadena Bulldogs 4-2 in the second game of the home-and-home series. Pasadena took the first game of the series at home with a 3-0 victory over Burbank in game one of the series back on Tuesday. 

Burbank’s Colby Bette began the day by stranding Ian Van Zyl at second base in the top of the first inning. The host Bulldogs got the scoring going in the bottom of the first inning when Robert Snyder scored from third base on an error committed by Riley Andrade. Then Bette cleared the bases with a bases-loaded two-out three-run opposite-field double to put Burbank up 4-0. Julian Recinos had a chance to drive home Bette from second base but ended up striking out swinging to end the home half of the first inning. 

Bette struck out two to start the second inning and then he dealt with traffic on the bases again. He allowed a two-out walk to Harrison Gwaltney before Julian Recinos recorded a fielding error which resulted in Andrade reaching first base. Manuel Arana had a chance to get the visiting Bulldogs on the board but he struck out swinging to leave two men on base to end the visiting half of the second inning. Jeremy Lee hit a two-out single to center field with hopes of making it a 5-0 game. Unfortunately, Adrian Vasquez struck out swinging to strand Lee at second base to end the second inning. 

Adrian Osegura and Van Zyl began the bottom of the third inning with back-to-back walks in hopes of getting a big rally going. Kaleb Derosier then hit a long two-run double to put the visiting Bulldogs within two. Colby Bette allowed three walks in the third inning but found a way to get out of it by stranding the bases loaded and getting Andrade swinging for an inning-ending strikeout. While the rest of the game was scoreless, Tomas Angel contributed to that when he recorded an outfield assist in the top of the fourth inning by throwing out Manuel Arana at home plate to complete the double play. 

Dylan Derosier popped out the second baseman Bette and then Kaleb Derosier made a baserunning mistake and was out at second base for Burbank to complete the double play to end the game. “We came into this game with the mindset of responding to tough situations, starting 0-4 is never easy but I liked how our guys came ready to play,” said Bob Hart. Hart also admitted that time will tell when asked about the win over Pasadena was a season-changing win for Burbank. 

Burbank improves to 1-4 overall and 1-1 in Pacific League play with Pasadena dropping to 2-3-1 overall and 1-1 in Pacific League play. Both teams will return to action on Monday, March 10th as Burbank will begin a two-game series with Muir at 3:45 p.m. Pasadena will also begin a two-game series with Arcadia with the first pitch scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
