Jordan Ribas comes out as a winner in his final high school boys’ volleyball game 

On Jordan Ribas’ day, the Burbank Bulldogs came away with a four-set victory over the Pasadena Bulldogs (25-18, 20-25, 25-14, 25-21). Tyler Tran recorded back-to-back aces to seal the win for the host Bulldogs in set four. Burbank entered the contest following a 2-4 record at the Crescenta Valley Varsity Boys Volleyball Tournament, and Pasadena clinched a CIF Southern Section Playoff spot with a four-set victory over the Glendale Nitros last Thursday. 

Before the opening serve, the Burbank Bulldogs’ lone senior Jordan Ribas was honored and celebrated in a pre-game senior night ceremony with family members, friends, and teammates in which he was recognized for his four years of service with the Burbank High School boys volleyball program.

On the volleyball court, the host Bulldogs started off the game fast by going on a 5-0 scoring run to begin the opening set. Caiden Kai Abarabar, Aiden Casey, and Jordan Ribas helped contribute to Burbank’s fast start. Peter Min then stopped the host Bulldog’s 5-0 scoring run to get the visiting Bulldogs on the board. Burbank continued to have control of the game throughout the opening set until Brandon Chong secured a set-point kill to end the first frame. 

Both Burbank and Pasadena started the second set by going neck and neck. Jun Angel, Peter Min, Finian Cassada, and William Leffler scored points for their respective teams in the first half of set two. The visiting Bulldogs were on cruise control in set two, and Milo Peoples recorded a set-point kill to give Pasadena a set two victory over Burbank. 

Burbank began set three with a 4-0 scoring run with Abarabar and Chong contributing kills to get the offense going for the host Bulldogs. Macen Stewart then helped the visiting Bulldogs close the gap by recording back-to-back kills to get Pasadena within one point. Burbank then pulled away, and Jun Angel scored the set point block to give Burbank a set three victory and momentum heading into the fourth set. 

Both Pasadena and Burbank had different questions heading into the fourth set, with Burbank looking to close it out and Pasadena looking to force a dramatic fifth set. Tyler Tran ended the game when he scored back-to-back aces to give Burbank a fourth-set victory. 

Burbank improves to 8-13 overall and 1-9 in Pacific League play, and Pasadena drops to 14-10 overall and 3-7 in Pacific League play. Burbank’s season has come to a close, and will prepare for the 2026 season throughout the summer and in the first semester of the 2025-2026 school year, while Pasadena will await its CIF Southern Section opponent on Saturday, April 26th at 10:00 a.m.
