Yosh becomes the third Head Coach in three years for the Bulldogs

A new voice will be leading the Burbank Bulldogs Girls Volleyball program as Stephanie Yosh was named the next head coach of the program for the 2025 season. Yosh is very familiar with the Burbank Bulldogs Girls Volleyball program, having served as the frosh assistant coach during the 2023 season.  Yosh does have two daughters who will be in the program. Maddi, a junior, and Sam, an incoming freshman, both play club volleyball with the city during the offseason. Maddi played on the varsity squad as a sophomore, and Sam is one of two freshmen to make varsity following spring tryouts.

The coaching staff under Stephanie Yosh features varsity coach Carmen Camacho-Platas, junior varsity coach Melissa Escobedo, and frosh coach Stephanie Anderson. Yosh will also serve as the co-varsity head coach with Camacho-Platas while overseeing the entire program.

Players to watch for in the Fall are seniors Grace O’ Connor and Anya Ogaian, junior Chloe Gallagher, and freshman Emerson Chong. Those players will be counted on to guide this young team through another rebuilding season.  “I’m extremely excited about this opportunity to be the head coach of the Burbank High School girls volleyball program. When I coached the frosh team back in 2023, it was very rewarding, and knowing a lot of those girls that I coached during that time, it has been a pleasure watching them grow into fine student athletes,” said the new Bulldogs head coach. Yosh added that she enjoys the sport of volleyball and that she’s beyond thrilled that she will get to coach both her daughters, Maddi and Sam, on the same team.

“Coach Stephanie Yosh has a background in volleyball and has expressed interest in building a winner for the long term,” said Allison McKain. McKain sounded hopeful that the Burbank High School girls volleyball program will have a plan to get back to winning volleyball under Yosh’s leadership.

The Bulldogs will be spending the entire summer training for the 2025 season with more practices, along with summer league games. These will lead into their first two games of the new season, home back-to-backs with Providence and Marlborough. Those games will take place on Monday, August 11th, and Tuesday, August 12th, respectively.

Quote of the week

I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.
