Victor Chtryan’s go-ahead 11th minute goal in the second half propelled the host Bulldogs to a narrow victory over the visiting Bulldogs.



The Burbank Bulldogs got their biggest win of the season by escaping with a 1-0 win over the Pasadena Bulldogs behind Victor Chtryan’s 11th minute goal in the second half.



The one-goal final was fitting as both teams played tight games entering this contest. Over the weekend Pasadena came off a 1-0 win over Burroughs and Burbank outdueled Arcadia by the final of 2-1. Ryan Mendoza recorded a shutout and two saves for Bubank in this win and Alan Rubio recorded two saves for Pasadena.



While it was a scoreless first half for both teams, the host Bulldogs had four opportunities at goal that they were unable to convert and the visiting Bulldogs had two missed goal chances.



Burbank’s Nathan Bay had the first real goal scoring chance for either team in the 15th minute before the teams bunched opportunities together over a 15-minute span to end the opening half. Chtryan, David Kehribian, and Joseph Chavez missed scoring opportunities for the hosts in the 28th, 29th, and 38th minutes of play respectively. Jess Navarro and Julian Connor had their scoring chances go wanting in the 21st and 37th minutes of play. Connor’s chance came on a free kick.



Both teams entered the second half with hopes of breaking the scoreless tie. Aram Hovanessian came out of the gates firing, but missed a goal scoring chance in the second minute of play of the second half.


Chtryan came to the rescue and scored the go ahead goal in the 11th minute to put Burbank up 1-0.


Pasadena had a real chance to tie the game three minutes later with Jean Paul Black failing to capitalize his scoring chance from a corner kick. Both teams played until the final whistle with Burbank completing the 1-0 shutout over Pasadena.



Burbank improves to 6-7-3 overall and 3-3-3 in Pacific League play as they extend their win streak to three. Pasadena falls to 6-8-3 overall and 4-3-2. Both teams will return to action on Friday, January 23rd. Burbank will host Muir as they will look to extend their winning streak to four games and Arcadia will host Pasadena. Both games will take place at 3:45 p.m.
