Arcadia sweeps Burbank 3-0


The Arcadia Apaches are fresh off of a sweeping victory over the Glendale Nitros and got their 2nd consecutive sweep to beat the Burbank Bulldogs 3-0. Ashley Savage of Arcadia had a fantastic game, as she led the team with 14 kills in the win over Burbank. The Burbank Bulldogs came into the contest off a 3-0 set loss to the Crescenta Valley Falcons and were still searching for their first victory. Heading into the Pacific League contest, Arcadia has a record of 8-1 overall, and a 4-0 record in Pacific League play while Burbank is winless with a 0-12 overall record, and a 0-4 record in Pacific League play.

Arcadia got off to a fast start and took the 1st set 25-15, but Astoria Torres, Raquel Fox, Olivia Romangio, and Briana Barona, all had kills for Burbank in set 1 along with Addison Ritner recording a block. In set 2 Arcadia picked up where they left off in set 1 as they went on a 7-2 scoring run until Raquel Fox of Burbank ended the scoring run of Arcaida with a kill. Fox had 2 kills in that set which the Bulldogs dropped 19-25..

Burbank was still looking for answers against Arcadia heading into set 3 but Addison Ritner recorded an ace and Raquel Fox got a kill in that set to add to her total of 5 in the match agsint the Apaches.. “It was a pretty good game, practices have gone really well for the girls and they’ve been encouraging each other to be their best selves but still need more out of them.” said varsity head coach Morgan Bolger. Bolger admits that the Bulldogs are so close to inching their way to their first win of the season when asked if the team is ready to snap their winless streak. Burbank now falls to 0-13 overall and 0-5 in Pacific League play, while Arcadia improves their record to 9-1 overall and 5-0 in Pacific League play. The Arcadia Apaches extend their win streak to 7 games and, are tied for 1st place in the Pacific League with the Crescenta Valley Falcons. The Burbank Bulldogs sit in 7th place in the Pacific League as they are a game ahead of Hoover(Glendale) for last place. Arcadia will host Burroughs(Burbank) on Thursday, September 14th at 3:45 PM while Burbank will take on Hoover(Glendale) on the road at the same time on the same day.
