As we begin to hit the home stretch of the regular season, the Football scene in the San Fernando Valley is red hot with all the teams featured on the list going head-to-head each week in league play. The East Valley leaders continue to move up the list after continuing their hot stretch of play. Two West Valley heavyweights swap spots on the list after doing battle last week. Here are the top ten teams heading into week eight action tonight in the SFV:
- Birmingham Patriots (4-3) Last Week: #1
The Patriots remain at the top of the list as Coach Rose extended his win streak over city opponents in the regular season to 50 this past week. Birmingham hosts Taft at home this week. - Kennedy Cougars (6-1) Last Week: #2
The Cougars hold strong at the #2 spot after a dominant win over a good Sylmar squad on the road last week. They will host a much-improved Canoga Park squad at home this week. - El Camino Real Royals (3-4) Last Week: #6
The Royals made a statement on the road, knocking off Granada Hills behind the stellar play from their defensive unit. ElCo has another strong test at home versus Cleveland this week. - North Hollywood Huskies (4-3) Last Week: #5
The Huskies continue to trend upward as they push their win streak in the East Valley to eleven games after taking down Poly on the road last week. They will look to continue their dominance on the road at Grant. - Van Nuys Wolves (7-1) Last Week: #4
The Wolves continue to show no ill effects from that loss on the road a few weeks ago at Kennedy, moving to 3-1 in the tough Valley Mission league after defeating Canoga Park on the road last week. They will look to push their win streak to four on the road at Reseda this week. - Granda Hills Highlanders (3-4) Last Week: #3
The Highlanders slide a few spots on the list after losing at home to Elco. They’ll look to right the ship against Chatsworth at home this week. - San Fernando Tigers (5-2) Last Week: #9
The Tigers bounced back from a tough loss at the hands of Van Nuys by taking it to Panorama last week. They will play Sylmar at the Coliseum this Saturday night in what should be an incredible atmosphere. - Taft Toreadors (5-2) Last Week: #10
The Toreadors went on the road and put on an offensive clinic at Chatsworth to move up a couple of spots on the list. They will have a tall task on the road at Birmingham this week. - Sylmar Spartans (4-3) Last Week: #8
The Spartans came up short versus Kennedy, but that can be said about six other teams that have faced the #5 Cougars this year. The Spartans will turn the page and get ready to battle San Fernando at the Coliseum this week. - Panorama Pythons (5-3) Last Week: #7
It was a tough week for the final team on the list, but the Pythons are still a quality bunch. They will have the week off to try and find their offensive spark before facing off against Van Nuys in week nine.
