Both the Bulldogs and Eagles earn a point in the draw

In the season home opener for the Burbank Bulldogs, they drew 0-0 with Marshall. The Bulldogs came off a 7-0 win over Arroyo in their season opener while Marshall came off a season opening 4-0 loss to Pasadena back on Monday. Both Burbank and Marshall both gained a point with the draw, seeing the Bulldogs increase their point total to three and Eagles getting their first points of the season.

The Bulldogs kept the Eagles at bay in the first half defensively and offensively they had four attempts at goal which could have opened the scoring. Hailey Kim had chances to get Burbank on the board in the third and 35th minutes of the first half while Sophia Martinez had her chance at goal come in the 27th minute. Both teams headed into the halftime break being tied at zero.

Sophie Leon missed an opportunity at goal in the 19th minute of the second half as the Bulldogs offense was mostly quiet for the rest of the game. Penny Herron recorded eight saves in net for the Marshall while Karine Gadyan recorded three saves in net for the Burbank Bulldogs. Like the first half both teams never found their footing throughout the second half as their defenses played well in the draw.

“Most of the game I felt like we were dominant on offense and defense but we just could not finish off scoring chances when we were given opportunites.” said Dennis Leon. Leon also praised Karine Gadyan’s performance in goal, stating she gained a lot of confidence in herself in the draw to Marshall.

Burbank’s record now sits at 1-0-1 and Marshall’s record now stands at 0-1-1 on the season. The Bulldogs will return to action on Saturday, November 22nd against Sun Valley Magnet at 10:30 a.m with Marshall returning to action in two weeks against Blair on Tuesday, December 2nd at 5:00 p.m.

Quote of the week

I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.
