Anthony Jawiche and Kaleb Walker combined for 70 points in the win for the Bulldogs 

On Saturday night The Burbank Bulldogs blew out the Marshall Barristers 98-60 behind a combined 70 point performance from Anthony Jawiche and Kaleb Walker. The Bulldogs entered this contest off a 77-64 loss to Pacific League rival Crescenta Valley on Friday night and the Barristers came off a 2-2 record at the Sotomayor High School Boys Varsity Basketball Tournament. 

The Bulldogs began the night by going on a 6-0 scoring run with contributions from Cris Ong, Imani Young Smith and Jawiche. Matthew Lopez scored two straight bank shot two’s to make it a two-point game. Walker then nailed both of his foul shots at the line and added a layup to give the Bulldogs a 10-4 lead. The Bulldogs led throughout the opening quarter and entered the second quarter with a 26-19 lead over Marshall. 

Jawiche and Walker sparked another scoring run for Burbank to begin the second quarter – this time the Bulldogs scored 11 straight points. Lopez again ended the scoring run with a free throw, going one of two at the stripe. The Bulldogs went on a scoring rampage throughout the second quarter and entered the halftime break with a 21-point lead over the Barristers. 

Burbank continued their offensive dominance to start the second half, adding an 8-0 run with points by Jawiche, and Avo Papikyan. Henry Hatch got Marshall on the board for the third quarter with a tip-in basket. The Bulldogs cruised through the second half to complete the 38-point win over the Barristers. Lopez led Marshall with 30 points in the loss. 

Burbank improves to 12-5 and Marshall drops to 7-7. The Burbank Bulldogs will resume Pacific League action on Tuesday, January 13th with a home contest against the Glendale Nitros at 6:45 p.m. Marshall will begin Northern League play with a road game against Franklin at 4:30 p.m.
