Burbank sweeps Glendale 3-0

Bulldogs gets their first Pacific League win of the season by sweeping the Dynamiters

After losing their first five Pacific League contests, the Burbank Bulldogs earned their first league win of the season by sweeping the Glendale Dynamiters (25-20, 25-15, 25-19) on Friday afternoon at Burbank High School.

Tyler Tran began the match with a service error which awarded the point to the Dynamiters to start set one. Tran then responded with a game-tying kill to return service back to Burbank. Caiden Kai Abarabar gave the Bulldogs the lead with a kill.

Kai Abarabar and Morre contributed to the Bulldogs 5-1 scoring run in the first set. The Bulldogs eventually took the opening frame as Brandon Chong and Tran helped Burbank complete the set one victory.

The Bulldogs were awarded two points as a result of Dynamiters players being out of position to start the second set. The first half of set two was an entertaining contest between the two teams.

Burbank was down 7-3 early in the set before Brandon Chong recorded three kills to pull the Bulldogs back within one at 8-7. The Dynamiters got the lead back up to two, but it was short-lived.

Brandon Chong and Finian Cassada combined to tie the score at nine with back-to-back kills. Chong then gave the Bulldogs the lead with a kill. The Bulldogs took over from there, outscoring the Dynamiters 15-6 the rest of the way, taking set two by the final score of 25-15.

The Bulldogs continued their momentum in the next set and were able to complete the sweep of the Dynamiters. Burbank improves to 3-9 overall and 1-5 in Pacific League play and Glendale falls to 0-7 overall and 0-6 in Pacific League play.

Glendale will return to action on Tuesday, April 7th against crosstown rival Hoover at 3:45 p.m. and Burbank will return to the court on Friday, April 10th at 6:00 p.m.
